E+H advises ECOwind on constructing the largest floating photovoltaic plant in Central Europe

15 November 2022

E+H advised ECOwind, an Austrian general contractor for wind and solar projects, on entering into a joint venture with a subsidiary of EVN, a leading Austrian utility company. The joint project company is constructing the largest floating photovoltaic plant in Central Europe in Grafenwörth (Lower Austria, Tulln district). With a capacity of 24.5 MWp, the energy project is expected to supply around 7,500 households with green electricity starting in spring 2023.

ECOwind has been developing, planning, and constructing renewable energy projects in the field of wind power and photovoltaics (PV) in Austria and CEE since 1995. The portfolio of ECOwind, a BayWa r.e. company, ranges from wind farms and innovative, large-scale, ground-mounted PV projects, to individual photovoltaic solutions for agricultural land.

“We are excited to be a part of this PV project, which is novel and trend-setting for the energy transition,” says Clemens Lanschützer, lead partner for Corporate + M&A aspects.

Tatjana Katalan, lead partner of the Public and Environmental Law team, who draws on her expertise from nearly two decades in the renewable sector, has been advising ECOwind for years. “I am delighted that our team was able to work on this great project, making another important contribution to climate protection. I am grateful for ECOwind’s great team, the tireless drive on the project, and the solid cooperation.”
