öGIG continues to invest in fiber optic expansion in Lower Austria, advised by E+H

E+H comprehensively advised Österreichische Glasfaser-Infrastrukturgesellschaft (öGIG GmbH), a 100% subsidiary of Allianz Group, regarding the cooperation with Breitband Holding GmbH of the Province of Lower Austria for the further expansion of the fiber optic network in Lower Austria. The closing of the transaction took place in December 2021.

The joint venture between öGIG and Breitband Holding will be responsible for the comprehensive planning and construction of the fiber optic network. In the future, different providers of internet services will be able to offer their products on the open network.

The planned investment volume of the cooperation now agreed amounts to a total of around EUR 500 million. The intention is to establish up to 200,000 additional fiber-optic connections in rural regions of Lower Austria. The cooperation between öGIG and Breitband Holding follows on from the cooperation already entered into in 2019. The first investment package already had a volume of around EUR 300 million.

E+H coordinated the current project under the leadership of partners Dr. Clemens Lanschützer and Ulrike Sehrschön.
